The Wii has topped the Japanese hardware chart for a subsequent week despite a rapid drop-off in unit numbers sold. Units sales of Nintendo’s console were 163,855 according to the latest chart figures, a number down from 215,129 the previous week

News: Nintendo still most eco-unfriendly electronics company – Greenpeace

Greenpeace has once again highlighted Nintendo as the most environmentally unfriendly of all its annually surveyed electronics companies. This year’s Greenpeace Guide to Greener Electronics study scored the company just 1.4 out of 10 for its chemical, e-waste and energy policies, the lowest of the 18 companies included. The Japanese manufacturer scored zero on e-waste and on its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions due to a second year of increases, despite its pledge to cut them.

Just Cause 2 visits small island, kills everyone

The acquisition of Eidos by Japanese publisher Square Enix earlier this year brought with it some strange consequences. Aside from the obvious Tomb Raider / Final Fantasy crossover that we all know is bound to happen , the above trailer for Just Cause 2 ends with a glaring Square Enix logo that still feels a bit out of place to us. Maybe it’s the theme of deposing a South East Asian dictator, the pronounced “Engrish,” and the musclebound American protagonist in the trailer — or maybe it’s just us being weird! Who knows?! We do know that the gameplay itself looks like a ripe barrel of monkeys and we’re looking forward to its release on March 23, 2010 .

Professor Layton Tops Japanese Chart

Level 5’s Professor Layton And The Flute Of Malevolent Destiny debuted atop the Japanese software chart during the week ended November 29. The DS title sold 306,000 copies – slightly more than the rest of the top ten combined – according to data from sales tracker Media Create (via el33tonline ).

Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition’s new enemy is all kinds of creepy

Capcom has updated its official Japanese Resident Evil 5 site , revealing the new enemy featured in the upcoming Gold Edition retail and (assorted) DLC release of the game. The new nemesis is an unnamed and extremely grotesque behemoth who carries a large key-like anchor, stalking the underground of Spencer’s Mansion in the content’s Lost in Nightmares episode. According to an English translation of the character card, players can hunt down the beast to obtain heavy weapons such as a sickle

Square Enix Sales Up 33 Per Cent

Half year financial results show jump in sales on same period 2008, but down 55.7 per cent in net income. The Japanese publisher, and new owner of Eidos, reported that over the six month period between April 1 and September 30 net income of its entire business decreased 55.7 per cent from 6,054m to 2,683 million yen, while revenue from sales climbed from 67,974m to 90,561m yen. read more
