News: TIGA annual report highlights tax break success

TIGA has published its annual report detailing work carried out over 2009 with a foreword from MP Tom Watson praising the trade association’s campaign for Games Tax Relief. The report highlighted the progress made on tax breaks, which led to the Government’s decision in the March 2010 Budget to allocate £90 million in tax relief for the sector over the financial years 2011 – 2013.

Facebook Games Suffer In April

Many of the top Facebook games lost million of monthly active users (MAU) in April. Following a smaller downturn in March, 18 of April’s top 25 titles saw a decline in MAU, with leading developer Zynga suffering the most.

CEA survey: Gaming to drive 3D TV purchases

According to a new survey conducted by the Consumer Electronics Association , one in four respondents who identified as a “gamer” is interested in 3D gaming at home. In a presentation today at the LA Games Conference , Shawn DuBravac, CEA’s chief economist, suggested that gaming would strongly drive the adoption of 3D televisions.

News: Bungie: Activision deal will help us reach larger audience

Bungie has told GamesIndustry.biz that it signed a ten year deal with publisher Activision in part in order to reach brand new audiences on new formats. Traditionally a PC and Xbox 360 developer, Bungie will now work on multiple formats a prospect it also finds daunting having built an envious portfolio of titles for Microsoft platforms. “On the one hand it’s probably a little bit terrifying because we’ve come to know the Xbox so well over the past decade,” said Bungie’s Brian Jarrard of multiformat development
